Heidi Ham recently joined NAA as Vice President of Programs and Strategy. She will work closely with NAA Executive Director Gina Warner to lead the execution and development of NAA strategy to advance current work and to create and support new opportunities specifically focused on quality improvement, advancing professionalism, and strengthening state and local alliances. Ben Paul is president and CEO of After-School All-Stars, a national nonprofit organization providing free daily afterschool programs to nearly ninety thousand low-income children in ten states, from New York to Hawaii. During his ten-year tenure as COO and then CEO, Paul has overseen the expansion of program operations from forty-five to nearly four hundred schools. He has expanded the organization's focus from sports to the three pillars of academics, enrichment, and health and fitness. Today, ASAS is one of the largest national afterschool program providers solely focused on comprehensive school-based programs.
According to the Washington Post, in 2013, nearly fifteen million students in 167 countries completed a tutorial or other coding-based activity during Computer Science Education Week, with one in six American students taking part—more than half of which were girls. Dr. Blyth is Extension Professor in the College of Education and Human Development, the Howland Endowed Chair in Youth Development Leadership, and a Senior Research Fellow with the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement at the University of Minnesota.
